Jake McClain
Jake McClain is an active Educator based in the greater Dallas-Forth Worth Area. He joined the North Mesquite HS Band Staff in 2021.
Mr. McClain grew up in both the DFW area and the Chicago area. He received his Bachelors of Music Education from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where he studied Euphonium under Timothy Northcut and Dr. Steve Darling. While at CCM, Mr. McClain played Euphonium in the CCM Wind Ensemble, CCM Brass Choir, and the CCM Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble as well as Trombone in the UC Jazz Ensemble. Prior to NMHS, he’s worked with award-winning marching bands such as the Lincoln-Way Marching Band and the Lebanon (OH) High School Marching Band. In 2022, Mr. McClain was a recipient of the Mesquite ISD First-Class Teacher of the Year award. Ensembles under his direction consistently earn sweepstakes at UIL and first division ratings at local festivals. Mr. McClain conducts the NMHS Wind Symphony and directs the NMHS Jazz Bands among other duties.
From 2017-2021, Mr. McClain marched baritone at Legends Drum and Bugle Corps and Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr. McClain holds membership in the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Texas Jazz Educators Association.
Mr. McClain currently resides in Addison, Texas with his wife Alex and cat Marty. Mrs. McClain is also a band director at Lamar Middle School in Flower Mound, TX. He enjoys drinking good coffee, golfing, and cheering on his favorite Chicago sports teams!
